My sculpture explores the residual primal needs that connect us to the animal world. I focus on
the commonality of humans and the rest of the animal kingdom, and our shared evolutionary origins.
I try to challenge our aloofness to nature; our belief that we can or should dominate or conquer it.
I am interested in the interconnectedness of species as well as their transitions through time, such as
the development of birds from the dinosaur and of humans from the early primate.
I am currently working on a series of hunters. Their thin, elongated bodies express our fragility
and ultimate dependence on nature. I intend for my figures to have a timeless quality, not rooted to any
particular time or place. They are generalized and the compositions simplified in order to represent
the human species as a whole.
My goals are to push further the attenuated sculptural form and continue the exploration of our
connection to the natural environment.
